You have been running for what seems like a century. The sky has merged with the earth and it's all flying by too fast. It doesn't help that your eyes are burning. All you can see now is a mosaic of blue and green, quickly swept up behind you as nothing more than a blurry memory. A memory that you would give anything to forget. You can still hear the chaos ringing in your ears, the fear beating in your heart like a war drum. There are brief glimpses of colliding bodies, the gnashing teeth of monsters, and claws that tear into anything they touch. These images are all you have left of that place. You try to remember it for what it once was but the beasts have your mind in ruins as well. A stream of crimson has followed you from the beginning of your departure, reminding you that the battle was lost. But it is not over. You are a survivor, but you are not alive. Suddenly, your tired legs give out from underneath you and you stumble. Dirt, stars, dirt, stars, dirt, stars. That is all you see as you roll before finally reaching a merciful halt. The adrenaline has dissolved from your veins and is instead replaced with a dull ache. Every breath feels like lava pouring down your throat. You can't move, nor do you choose to. You try to be glad for the fact that you made it this far, but it really only means that you'll be dying by yourself. Darkness dances before your eyes and its cold touch guides you slowly toward unconsciousness, making you feel inexplicably calm. But the peace is shattered by the footsteps coming in your direction. They fall silent just before you and you can practically feel a shadow being cast over your limp body. You gaze up reluctantly, not truly wanting to see who towers over you. However, it is not one of the monsters that you remember. It is a female that you have never seen before. A female whose pelt seems to have galaxies woven into it. A female whose eyes are like steel. You notice that she is not alone; a small group of canine silhouettes dwell close behind her. But she easily draws you back to her with a gentle smile. Her expression can only be described as one of recognition, and for a moment you wonder if you have seen her before. Then she speaks, and her words are a beautiful catastrophe that change your life forever....
"Tell me, are you just going to let it end here?"
